the story

How it all started

Min Ceramics was born out of a passion for creating art with my daughter. For me creating ceramics is a dream that has been waiting to be set free and something I pour endless amounts of love into. I found working with porcelain clay, my flat artist canvas suddenly became three dimensional. Some of my forms start on the wheel but I most typically manipulate the shape by rearranging the roundness. Other shapes are made by sculpting the clay. I love pushing the boundaries of the form and the final finish. I have spent many hours searching for finishes that in the words of a lady potter who was a taught by Bernard Leach (The Father of British studio pottery) “I want my work to be like moss and stones and birds eggs”. Every piece is handmade, hand painted and completely unique. My painting is most typically freehand or etched. I put whimsy and practical together to bring you functional ware that you can fall in love with.

As I work with white porcelain and stoneware I dip each piece on completion with a food safe sealer to make any non glazed surface, mark and water resistant. If you are using a particularly high staining food such as beetroot, its always recommended to give the vessel a rinse after use.

I hope you love the range as much as I loved creating it.
